Making The Decision To Improve Your Health Does Not Have To Be A New Year Resolution

At this time of the year it is normal for so many to start thinking about new beginnings.  Is this because we always try to reset our clocks back at the beginning of a NEW YEAR, a new start, time for change.

How long do these thoughts, intentions however last.. for many not more than a month to six weeks at best.. and then the thought may come back into their heads a bit further down the year when somenthing in their life happens for them to reflect on their goals and intentions they made at the beginning of the year.

I have found being on the challenge has helped to keep me focused.  I look forward to making fun shakes every day, and talk to as many people as I can about the challenge, and what it can do about improving their lives.  Using my challenge line, is a great journal for me, and helps put things in perspective and keep me focussed.  It's nice to be encouraged by others who are also on the challenge too.

The great thing is that for every 10lbs of weight I lose, I can help 30 children improve their lives through the company donating shakes and cookies to those that are in need to help fight child obesity and poverty.

The way I see it, your health is the most important thing in your life, you should value your health over and above everything else.  Without it, there are lots of things you are not able to do, go or see.

So, what price do you put on your health? I know if there is the best out there to help me get a better result, then I am looking at the best, and nothing less.

So what is stopping your from starting your health journey with us in BodyByVi

My 90 Day Challenge To Complete A 20 Mile Bike Ride

Day 1
You can follow my challenge on my timeline here: https://challenge.com/timeline/2936173

I am using the new Transformation Kit click here for more info. It has additional products which will not only help me get fitter, but also to lose weight and to aid with snacking and hunger.

It's nearly Christmas and most of us will want to be thinking about Christmas parties and the little black dress.

Normally around this time of the year I start a weight loss campaign to lose at least 7lbs.  Why?
Because I know with all the good food that comes with the holidays I am bound to overeat, and if I have lost the weight I am just putting it back on so that I dont need to go into crazy diet mode come the new year.

So who is up for the challenge with me?

Could You Have Male Eating Disorder

If you think eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia are just a chick thing, guess again. Ask yourself these six questions to make sure your eating and exercise patterns are in a healthy zone.

When the subject of eating disorders comes up, most people naturally think it’s a chick thing. But the latest research shows that gender is neither a predictor of—or an insurance policy against—body image issues. In fact, the number of guys worldwide who suffer from eating disorders is on the rise, according to Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment & Prevention.

“There’s a lot more pressure these days for guys to have a cut body than there used to be in the past,” says Ted Weltzin, MD, medical director of eating disorder services at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

Women Who Inspire....

Many people who I have spoken to regarding weightloss or improving health, have all said they needed inspiration to continue.

Inspiration comes from within, motivation will help, but you yourself have to become inspired.
Today's very inspirational video shows that no matter your age it is never late to start to look after your health.
I hope you take away from this as much as I have.

Continue to be inspired!

Stress and Your Health

Stress can have a devistating effect on our health our mind and our bodies.  It is important to recognise the feelings of stress and to be able to have strategies in place to deal with this.

We all have stress in our lives, and there is such a thing as good stress and bad stress, believe it or not. Stress can manifest itself as aches and pains, stiffness in back neck or shoulders, ulcers, stomach ailments, spots, rashes, loss of hair, headaches, loss of appetite as well as the opposite comfort eating to allay our fears and stresses. Some in the medical industry feel that some cancers are bought on by stress.

So recognising you are stressed is important in the first instance.  Once you have recognised this, look at what may be causing the stress, now in these days and times, it could be any of the following areas:
  • Finance
  • Relationships
  • Health
  • Job / Work related

In most of these areas you can 'take charge' of the situation if you regocnise the issues.  Seek help and more importantly take action.

Techniques to help destress
Meditation is a great way to destress.  Find a quiet place to relax, close your eyes and breathe deeply, in through your nose out through your mouth.  Do this for at least 5 minutes if you can go longer you will feel yourself relax.  Tell youself to relax in your mind and you will find yourself sinking deeper and deeper into inner peace.

Is a great way to improve your mindset, thinking positively can help resolve stressful situations.
Recognise your triggers to stress, and as soon as you feel your heart racing, or your blood boiling take measures to calm yourself down.

Now a majority of people who are overweight tend to comfort eat, that is also to do with stress, being in a stressful relationship, having a stressful time at work, other types of stress or lack of self esteem.  With weight gain and stress, this can lead to health problems, so therefore really important to recognise stress which is causing you to be ill, or gain weight needs to be addressed quickly.  Changing your mindset, eating habits and exercising more can help you to improve your stress levels and improve your health at the same time.

Your turn.... if there are techniques you use that are helpful to keep you destressed, why not share them in my comments below.....
