**** GUEST POST**** Working Out Builds Health in Body and Love

Today we are really excited to announce a guest blog post today from Tonya Vrba an accomplished writer who writes about health, career and dating issues.

Working Out Builds Health in Body and Love

Have you ever tried to start a work out routine or eat healthier, only to have your efforts sabotaged by your partner?

They may not intentionally do it, but they’re not on a health kick. Why should they give up the chips?

Perhaps you have been on the other end of things, with your partner spending all this time working out when they could be cuddling with you at a movie.

Whichever position you are in, you should seriously think about working out together. If health isn’t enough to motivate you, then let your relationship be the motivation. Studies show working out is a great bonding activity for couples.

Sex: Let’s get the obvious out of the way. You and your partner are both fit, healthy and flexible. In the gym you watch each other sweat from the effort of flexing muscles. With all that’s going on in the world, it may be best you conserve water and take a shower together.

Companionship: Having a cheerleader by your side at the gym is invaluable. Knowing that your partner is waiting for you at the gym instead of at home on the couch is a great motivator. On an off day, when you’d rather just go home and do nothing, you now have to confront your partner. If they do their job well, they’ll insist on working out. You can vent your stresses to each other over a pair of weights.

Competition: Friendly competition can improve your work out and bond couples together. You may have only planned to run 10 laps around the track, but if your partner is still going, you may suddenly find the energy for a few more. If you are both about equal in your fitness level, this may be a great time to get each other to branch out in other areas of life. Set a deal that the one who runs the most laps gets to choose the movie or dinner for the night.

Improve Your Health Faster: Connecting all the dots, you’ll see that working out together will often result in working our harder and more often. This can be especially important if working out is necessary to avoid hypertension or diabetes.

Rekindle Your Love: Sure, sex is great, but don’t forget about the love. Watching each other push yourselves and meet your fitness goal will remind you why you love each other. You will view your partner and they will view you as a strong and determined person. When you reach your goal, your partner will be right there to share the moment with you.

Why are you sitting on the couch while your partner is at the gym? Look at what you are missing out on. If you want to try something a bit different than the gym, look into couple’s Pilates or yoga. Find something you both like to do and enjoy your health in both body and love.

Stress and Your Health

Stress can have a devistating effect on our health our mind and our bodies.  It is important to recognise the feelings of stress and to be able to have strategies in place to deal with this.

We all have stress in our lives, and there is such a thing as good stress and bad stress, believe it or not. Stress can manifest itself as aches and pains, stiffness in back neck or shoulders, ulcers, stomach ailments, spots, rashes, loss of hair, headaches, loss of appetite as well as the opposite comfort eating to allay our fears and stresses. Some in the medical industry feel that some cancers are bought on by stress.

So recognising you are stressed is important in the first instance.  Once you have recognised this, look at what may be causing the stress, now in these days and times, it could be any of the following areas:
  • Finance
  • Relationships
  • Health
  • Job / Work related

In most of these areas you can 'take charge' of the situation if you regocnise the issues.  Seek help and more importantly take action.

Techniques to help destress
Meditation is a great way to destress.  Find a quiet place to relax, close your eyes and breathe deeply, in through your nose out through your mouth.  Do this for at least 5 minutes if you can go longer you will feel yourself relax.  Tell youself to relax in your mind and you will find yourself sinking deeper and deeper into inner peace.

Is a great way to improve your mindset, thinking positively can help resolve stressful situations.
Recognise your triggers to stress, and as soon as you feel your heart racing, or your blood boiling take measures to calm yourself down.

Now a majority of people who are overweight tend to comfort eat, that is also to do with stress, being in a stressful relationship, having a stressful time at work, other types of stress or lack of self esteem.  With weight gain and stress, this can lead to health problems, so therefore really important to recognise stress which is causing you to be ill, or gain weight needs to be addressed quickly.  Changing your mindset, eating habits and exercising more can help you to improve your stress levels and improve your health at the same time.

Your turn.... if there are techniques you use that are helpful to keep you destressed, why not share them in my comments below.....

Protein Breakfast And Diets

Poached Egg, two slices of honey roast ham, sliced tomatoes

Yummy, who says you can't enjoy breakfast if your losing weight!  This is a protein based breakfast which will ensure you don't crave for carbs during the morning.  Just because you are on a weight loss program does not mean you have to eat rabbit food, it's about eating healthy.  This dish is low in fat, high in protein and will help balance out your blood sugars throughout the morning. If you are peckish before lunch have a piece of fruit or a small pot of yoghurt.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  You don't need me to tell you that.  If you don't set your day up properly you will end up eating crap and defeating the purpose of losing weight or improving your health if those are your aims.  Let's look at this logically.  Your body is in a state of repair when we sleep. Therefore a lot is happening and a lot of energy is being used when we 'rest'.  Fuel is needed to ensure the body repairs itself during the state of rest. Your digestive system has to shut down during this period to enable the body to carry out other repair functions, therefore if you eat later than 8pm it is unlikely your body will process the food ingested and therefore it either sits in the gut until your digestive system is switched back on in the morning, or it is stored as 'fat' in the body.  Another reason not to eat late at night!

Most cereals are of no value to our bodies nutritionally, with the exception of wheat based cereals such as weetabix, shredded wheat and bran flakes along with porridge or oats based cereals or muesli which are low glycemic (Low GI) and will slowly release the energy evenly throughout the morning so you don't feel hungry.  You can top these cereals up with fresh fruit as added sugar in a natural way will increase your energy levels.

Really important to note that your breakfast must not be below 200 calories, otherwise you will tend to get hungry in no time and crave the wrong foods.
